"NO PICTURES!" Mos Def & Jay Electronica : Haiti Benifit Show , Independent SF

So I'm gonna put this fool on BLAST right now. I didn't even want to go to this show, But I told my friend Claire that I'm giving Mos Def ONE LAST chance tonight. To redeem himself as the entertaining guy we all know he can be. I've seen Mos sooo many times now...and EVERY SINGLE TIME...this fool lets me down. I will keep it real, I haven't really been up on Mos new stuff, I bought the Blk on Both Sides album, and I even think I have The New Danger album. But for whatever reason...they were never on constant rotation. NONE THE LESS!!! Even though I'm not up on his new stuff, if his new stuff was bangin' I would be feelin it, especially if it's live! He did ALL his newer songs...some of his stuff was on hit, but it just felt like he had no connection with the audience. I felt like this audience was waiting for something from him...U had people that came out from cut to come see Mos. I just didn't think he could have delivered like he should have for his fans. There was even a time where he was straight arguing with a audience member. That was actually funny though! He did one old school song...UMI SAID...wow.
The good thing about this show was that, Jay Electronica came to the rescue!! In my opinion, Jay Electronica represents raw, and fresh hip hop. His lyrics had essence and substance, his beats were bangin' and he projected to the crowd better than Mos did. Jay even did a tribute to Dilla and & Baatin...which was awesome! It's always a treat to hear a Dilla beat at a show..that made my insides happy!
There were some special guests...Supernatural, who always rips the stage with his freestyle. Locksmith came on for a couple of songs...But what I really enjoyed was the spoken word in the beginning of the show. I haven't been that touched listening to spoken word in a while, it was really nice!
So show was over, we hung around bullshitting, and managed to get a pic with Jay Electronica, and Supernat...they were both very nice, humble and down to earth talking to them. We even hung around outside and they were just really cool. I even got Jay to leave a message on my boy Mic's v/m! Then MOS came out, there was hardly anyone outside of the venue but us, some stragglers and his peeps. Me and my girl Claire go up to Mos...and even before we say anything...he straight up says "No Pictures!" straight faced & hella serious. So I straight up said " R u serious, no pictures? I drove all the way from Union City to come see you!" (LOL, like UC is hella far or something)......but I got nothing. Then he said it again.."No pictures" fool didn't even say please! I felt so dissed! like for real dude, I freaking paid $ for this show...it's a freaking benefit show...WTF? He did hang out w/ us until his ride came, he chit chatted with the guys & shared cookies together like best friends n shit, and when some other girls tried to get pic with him but he said the same thing! "No Pictures!" Bottom line...he had no love for da fans. no love.

Despite being totally dissed by Mos..I had such a great time with great company, TONS of laughter, lots of drinks, & music...music makes everything better! Still a great night!
