In the car ride over to the city...I got butterflies in my tummy, butterflies of excitement. My body ached from painting, and running errands yesterday. But that did not in any way make me less excited to see Little Dragon live.
Loved running into my lovely cousin Moya and her boyfriend Cecil outside Independent. Rushed inside to cement my feet in a good spot...unfortunately everywhere I tried to stand, somehow every tall person in the building managed to sneak their way right in front of me! VV Brown was on stage when we got there. We managed to listen to the last part of her set. She was awesome! Very strong voice, her band was awesome as well! She did a cover to Drake's song "Best I Ever Had" - now when she announced that she was going to do that cover, I was kinda expecting the worst. It actually came out tight, so much props to VV Brown from England. She has a very original flavor..Cant wait to hear more from her.
Little Dragon took the stage with "A New" Front woman Yukimi Nagaro came on stage with a dark blue sequin hood over her head. I love her soulful voice, and love how it blends well with the music they make. Watching her Jammin' & groovin to her most awesome band was so refreshing! This Swedish band can definitely rip the stage! Their music is a musical blend of all genres. You can not label them as just 1 type of style. Some of the songs they played were "Never, Never", "After The Rain" , " My Steps", "Blinking Pigs", "Forever" "Looking Glass" and my fave "Twice". Each and every song they did, was tweaked in a different way, each song they did sounded full, & well arranged and because of that, they delivered a wonderful show. I was very impressed, and would recommend seeing them live. It's definitely an experience you wont forget. The CD's are great...but nothing like seeing them live! I enjoyed dancing along with everyone in the crowd, singing along to the lyrics and screaming for more! "Swimming" was their encore, but like everyone else in the crowd, I think I could have listened and danced all night for more Little Dragon.
